You
must advise us on registration if you are bringing a dog, otherwise we may not
have the space available. Please
note that our farm and others around it are working farms and we have very strict rules about dogs.
Should you wish to bring your dog, you will be in a
designated camping area with other people who also have dogs.
All dogs must remain tied up or on leads at all times and are prohibited
from entering the main camping & festival area.
Please appreciate that as much as
you love your hound, others may not. If
your dog is unsociable with other dogs or presents any issues with other
festival goers, we reserve the right to ask you to take your dog away.
No howlers or yappers PLEASE!
We are a “push-bike friendly” festival so don’t forget yours.
The swimming hole's are
a 5 minute walk from the camp site and some are
quite deep.
It is the responsibility of parents to
ensure their children’s safety.
Tui Festival happens each year because of the permission/approval of our neighbours and any one of them could make a complaint about this festival and have us shut down. These
neighbours are pretty special people to let this happen year in, year out, even though we live on a gravel road and shower them with dust for 3 days. You can imagine what it's like to have 300+ cars going past your house on a gravel road.
PLEASE!!!! ALWAYS drive slowly on Tui Road - keep your speed to under 20kms per hour - it’s only for 500m!!
On arrival at Tui, proceed to the Registration Desk where you will find an envelope with your name on it. Inside will be information about where to camp and where not to camp. Please pay particular attention to this, as it's no fun pulling down your tent and re-erecting it somewhere else. If you
have a family, then we know that there are some areas that you will definitely not want to camp in. Likewise, if you don't have a family, you'll probably want to avoid the family paddock. Families tend to wake up early and late night jammers and revellers like to sleep late. The reverse happens at the other end of the day and we know from past experience that these groups are far better off camping in different areas. We
have loads of room at Tui and have set areas aside for both groups, so please, if you're not sure, ask someone who has been before. It is really important that families with young children do not camp in the "reprobates & all-night-jammers" camping area and vice-versa.

Directions:
From
Nelson:
Directions:
Head south towards Murchison/West Coast until you get to Motupiko and turn right
at the Kohatu Hotel. Signpost says to Tapawera. Drive to Tapawera -
go through the town and turn left after the Mobil garage (Tadmor Valley Road). Follow that road until you get to
the "gravel" sign (approx 24kms) and turn right into
Tui Road. (Tui Rd/Dry Weather Rd
Crossroads). Follow the
festival signs.
(Note:
Don’t turn right at Tadmor into Whangapeka Rd). Do not turn off Tadmor Valley Rd
till you get to the Tui crossroads. You
won’t get gravel til you turn onto Tui Road
.
From
South/West: (West Coast/Murchison):
Approximately
30 minutes north of Murchison, you will
come to a green sign that says "Glenhope". Travel 1.4km
past that sign and turn left into
Tapawera Glenhope Rd (Dry Weather Road). Don't take Moonlight Rd by
mistake! If you get to the passing lane up the hill, then you've missed
it. NOTE: This is a gravel
road, very narrow and "twisty". Not good for families
with car-sick children!! Drive 15.4km down that road til you
get to a four way crossroads. Turn left into Tui Road
(this one also says
Sherry
River). Follow
the festival signs. If you miss Tapawera Glenhope Rd turnoff or decide not
to take it, continue up
and over the Hope Saddle and drive til you get to Motupiko and turn left at the
pub called "Kohatu". Follow the directions as per "From
Nelson" above. This way adds approximately 40 minutes to the
journey, but is tar-seal all the way.
From Motueka/Golden Bay:
Directions:
Go through Motueka township, turn right into King Edward Rd
and follow the signs to Tapawera.
Just before you get to Tapawera township (just before the 50km sign),
turn right into Tadmor Valley Road. Follow that road until you get to
the "gravel" sign (approx 24kms) and turn right into
Tui Road. (Tui Rd/Dry Weather Rd
Crossroads). Follow
the festival signs.
(Note:
Don’t turn right at Tadmor into Whangapeka Rd). Do not turn off Tadmor Valley Rd
till you get to the Tui crossroads. You
won’t get gravel til you turn onto
Tui Road.
From
Christchurch:
This
way will save you approximately 1 hour. Coming from Christchurch, you
have the option of going through Nelson and taking the "from Nelson"
directions, or you can turn off at Blenheim, taking the "West Coast"
turn-off. This will take you up the Wairau Valley, bringing you out at
Kawatiri (T Junction, can't go wrong). Instead of turning left to go to
the West Coast, you turn right to Nelson, travel approximately 15 minutes up the
road to the "Glenhope"
sign. Travel 1.4km
past that sign and turn left into
Tapawera Glenhope Rd (Dry Weather Road). Don't take Moonlight Rd by
mistake! If you get to the passing lane up the hill, then you've missed
it.
NOTE:
This is a gravel road, very narrow and "twisty". Not good
for families with car-sick children!! Drive 15.4km down that road til you
get to a four way crossroads. Turn left into Tui Road
(this one also says
Sherry
River). Follow
the festival signs. If you miss Tapawera Glenhope Rd turnoff or decide not
to take it, continue up
and over the Hope Saddle and drive til you get to Motupiko and turn left at the
pub called "Kohatu". Follow the directions as per "From
Nelson" above. This way adds approximately 40 minutes to the
journey, but is tar-seal all the way. Of course, you can come up through
the Lewis Pass also, which is a great run. Once again, follow the signs
from West Coast/Murchison.
